Our Research, Development and Innovation lead, Professor James Gilbert, has shared his expertise on floating windfarms in an in-depth debate on the discussion programme, Roundtable.
James joined fellow experts from Durham and Loughborough Universities to discuss whether floating windfarms can power the future and whether we should be looking to the horizon for new innovations.
Airing on Sky channel 516, Roundtable is presented by David Foster (former Sky News and Al Jazeera presenter) and is the world’s flagship discussion show exploring the big-picture issues of our time.
Keen to offer his opinion on reaching Net Zero and the future of green electricity and power, Professor Gilbert discussed the cost efficiencies and economic viability of wind farm energy.
With 30 years of research under his belt, Professor Gilbert has tackled a wide range of challenges across his career, with his work currently focused predominantly on sensing, measurement and manufacturing in offshore renewable energy systems, particularly offshore wind.
