The University of Hull is committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all, giving every individual the chance to achieve their potential. At this event we will be blending together two projects of which the University of Hull are involved with in the aim to help tackle the issues of diversity in the workplace.

The first project is Humber Women in the Workforce which has been designed to promote positive change to workplace cultures and increase female employment rates. The project, which is being part funded by the European Social Fund, delivers support and training to women in the workforce to enable them to up skill and grow. As one of the delivery partners the University of Hull has been delivering the Women in Leadership Accelerator course designed to help female managers, leaders and aspiring leaders to develop their skills and knowledge to grow without feeling hindered by their gender.

The second project is Turning The Tide which explores the importance of the role of women in the renewable energy sector. Turning The Tide is an exhibition which aims to tell a different story about the role of women in industry past, present and future – by making it beautiful, as well as functional. The aim is to attract more women into the new and revolutionary renewables industry, which has such a strong base in the Humber region.

Over lunch you will have the opportunity to network with past and present cohorts of the Women in Leadership course and hear some of the success stories. We will then move into the exhibition space where you will hear from an inspirational speaker from industry recounting their journey into leadership. You will then get the opportunity to look around the exhibition, watch the film and be inspired by some of the stories of the people taking part in the project.

This event is for everyone – women and men – who want to see a more equal, diverse and inclusive workforce. We’d encourage everyone interested in the subject to attend, whether you’re a business leader, involved in EDI, or simply want to network and hear success stories and why women leaders are great for business!
