Discuss your business’s climate change concerns at our new, informal drop-in sessions

Representatives of businesses across the Humber region who want to get a better understanding of how climate change might affect them are welcome to attend a new series of weekly, drop-in sessions at the Aura Innovation Centre at Bridgehead Business Park, in Hessle, East Yorkshire.

Starting from 22 April, the informal sessions will take place every Friday between 10am and 2pm, and they’ll be hosted jointly by the teams from the University of Hull’s Aura Innovation Centre and Flood Innovation Centre.

The Flood Innovation Centre has received funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to drive innovation and support different approaches and solutions to flood resilience. The team can provide fully funded support to eligible business in Hull, East Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.

Flood Innovation Centre Project Manager Pip Betts said: “Members of our team, together with representatives of Aura Innovation Centre, will be on hand every Friday to chat with businesses about the effects of climate change and help them consider ways in which they can adapt in order to ensure that they can continue to thrive and build resilience into their business to meet the challenges ahead.

“Whether you’re confused about your carbon footprint or worried about how flooding could affect your business, you’re very welcome to call in any time between 10am and 2pm for an informal chat; we’re a friendly bunch and always keen to offer help and advice if we can. Even if you just fancy seeing the cutting-edge facilities on offer at Aura Innovation Centre, it’s well worth sparing an hour to call in one Friday.”

The Aura Innovation Centre helps Humber SMEs (small to medium enterprises) turn their ideas into reality, connecting businesses of all sizes to the research power and expertise of the university.  It has helped over 80 SMEs in the Humber region to develop low-carbon innovations, from greener technologies and energy saving ideas, to developing new products and materials in the Centre’s Invent X technology space.

Sarah Clark, Operations Manager of the Aura Innovation Centre, said: “You may have an idea you’ve always wanted to get off the ground, or you might just have passed the Aura Innovation Centre and wondered what’s inside.  We’d love for you to come along for a chat and see how we can help your business on the journey to net zero.”

The Friday drop-in sessions will take place at Aura Innovation Centre, Meadow Road, Bridgehead Business Park, Hessle, East Yorkshire, HU13 0GD.
