Aura Innovation Centre launches campaign to celebrate World Earth Day

Innovative social media campaign celebrates the Humber’s first low-carbon innovation centre.

The 22nd April was an important day for the AIC. The date was marked for a ‘launch like no other’ to coincide with the 50th anniversary of World Earth Day, welcoming huge global celebrations, a call to action and a global movement to transform the world to a more sustainable future for all.

At the Aura Innovation Centre our ethos is all about helping businesses to succeed – through innovation and collaboration, but also to reduce carbon emissions to strive for a cleaner Humber and a greener planet.

The campaign bridges fundamental principles needed when overcoming the world’s biggest challenges. From COVID-19 and the impact on the economy to protecting the planet, we’re all working hard to adapt as the world changes around us. These changes have already seen businesses Adapt, Innovate and Collaborate to both survive and thrive. Three core principles that also form the DNA of the AIC.

A thought-provoking video was posted on Aura’s social channels on World Earth Day to show our commitment in helping business to accelerate green innovation and clean growth.

The campaign then touched on ten key innovation projects to demonstrate how the centre is helping businesses to succeed whilst striving for a cleaner Humber and a greener planet – from transforming waste into commercial opportunities to developing technologies to utilise hydrogen as a domestic clean energy source.

The £12m Aura Innovation Centre, at Hessle’s Bridgehead Business Park, was opened in January 2020, delivering a number of substantial benefits to the Humber region and beyond. Since opening, the AIC is already helping over 40 businesses achieve their low-carbon ambitions with over £190,000 of funded innovation support committed from dedicated Innovation Managers and teams of research experts at the University of Hull. The AIC is joint funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Green Port Hull, the University of Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Exciting, new plans are underway to launch the revolutionary new low-carbon innovation centre with further details to be announced.
